FWP Statement – Coronavirus (October 2021)
We have decided to cancel face-to-face meetings until after the New Year. After the New Year we will decide whether or not to restart face to face meetings at Beckington Memorial Hall and we will base this decision on the situation at that time. From time to time we may have interim whole membership or smaller special interest group meetings and we will inform members of any coronavirus safety measures before the meeting.

Keep safe, and continue to enjoy your photography.
Mary Maynard Frome Wessex Photographic Chair on behalf of the FWP Committee

Best of the Best Competition Results
Mary Maynard, Steve Climpson, Alan Denison crowned the year's finest

The winning photographs of the end-of-season's 'Best of the Best' contests – which pit the top-scoring images from the year's eight internal competitions (four themed, four open) for one final appraisal at the hands of a judge – have been revealed. Many congratulations to Mary Maynard, Steve Climpson (who sadly passed away last December), and Alan Denison for having their images selected by judges Peter Fry DPAGB BPE4 ARPS and Peter Ottley CPAGB LRPS as the season's finest. More details, including full competition results, can be viewed here.

Photo|Frome: A new festival of photography for the South West
Exhibitions, talks, workshops, portfolio reviews, book fair and more

Photo|Frome, created by members of FWP, is set to 'fill Frome with photos' this summer. Running daily from 21st June to 15th July with 10 (free) exhibitions, 8 talks, 6 workshops, portfolio reviews and more, the festival will cater for all levels of photographic ability and interest, across all ages and demographics.

Photo|Frome is an inclusive festival of contemporary photography for anyone with an interest in the medium, whether they’re professional photographers, art lovers, students, or just looking to learn. It is a celebration of modern photography in all its glorious forms and genres, featuring serious work alongside fun activities, and catering to both young and were-young-once, those who have only just picked up a camera and those who’ve forgotten how long they’ve been holding one.

Our Activities
Competitions & Workshops
Guest Speakers
Photoshoots & Outings
Through competitions and workshops we all learn new skills. All our competitions are judged by independent, experienced judges. Additionally, we enter numerous regional and inter-club battles.
A core component of our weekly meetings are talks by a variety of experienced speakers. Sessions cover a range of topics – see our Programme 2021/22 for details.
A photography group should be a social group, and FWP normally organises an annual photo holiday, as well as summer outings and photoshoots throughout the year, details of which can be found in the members' newsletter (and News page).
