Geoff is Poorly
Geoff Eynon, committee member, equipment officer, father of the Club Christmas meal caterers, mainstay of the Club for many years, good company and good photographer, is languishing in RUH when he should have been enjoying a cruise. He's not very well just now, but chiefly very, very bored and fed up. Give him a ring if you can.

Request for Photographs 1
Loveday has had a request from Dave Thompson of Somerset Speedway, who asks those who went on the two trips there this month to post images on  the Speedway Twitter account (https://twitter.com/casesrebels), so that their followers can see them, please.

Request for Photographs 2 (a VG Idea from Keith Kemp)
The Festival Photo Walk, Somerset Speedway, St Fagan's in the rain, Bath with Mick Yates, Goodwood..... This summer has seen vigorous Club activity. Andrew is going to create an album page on the Club website, so please send him your favourite pics, whether seriously beautiful or cheerily lighthearted, taken during these events: fwccwebmaster@icloud.com

Subjects to Get Our Teeth Into
We have received the 15 subjects set by Norton Radstock for next May, and they are an interesting and challenging set. It seems a long way away now, but bear them in mind, perhaps, when you're out and about with a camera:
Wheels; Sporting moments; Environmental damage; People in their Element; Symmetry; Lighthouses; Bridges; In an English town/city; Photoelasticity: (an effect created using a polarizing filter while photographing transparent plastic under polarized light); Old & New; Wings; Black and white with one colour; Balloons; Landscape; Farming.

Dark Skies on Exmoor
Dark Skies Destinations are running an evening astrophotography course on Exmoor on the 8th September which they hope may be of interest to our members. The course is called ‘An introduction to nightscape astrophotography’ and is being presented and led by astrophotographer and science presenter Will Gater. You can find out more information about the event, what the course will cover, what equipment you’ll need and how to book (advanced booking is required) here: https://www.darkskydestinations.com/  They advise booking early as there are only a few places left.

Diary Date: Friday 7th September, 7.30 for 7.45, Beckington Memorial Hall.

Somerset Speedway Visit, Wednesday 8th August
If you would like to join this trip, please e-mail Loveday TODAY as she has to send them the numbers. (l.powell@bluyonder.co.uk)
For directions to the arena, please visit
http://www.somersetrebels.co/contactus.php

The cost is £18 to cover a cold buffet meal, a pit tour and entry to the Speedway.
Timings for the evening are as follows:  It's advisable to arrive between 6pm & 6:15pm for the pit/track tour, which generally lasts 30 to 40 mins, with the opportunity to take some candid photos. Pits will close at 7pm.
Once concluded, you'll be shown to your table & the staff will organise your food. Racing starts at 7:30pm, so you should have ample time between the tour & racing commencing to have your food.
Your table will be reserved in the Club’s name & is available all night for your party. Also you will have access to the sponsors’ patio for the evening. However, you are welcome to roam the public areas to take images as long as the rules regarding photography, which I will explain on the evening, are observed.

It Looks like Cornwall for 2019
Eleven Club members met on Monday, with messages from 4 others who could not be present. From the meeting, we have arrived at a consensus that if possible we shall spend the week of 7/8 - 14/15 June next year in Cornwall. We aim to find accommodation for 24 people, and Andrew W is hard at work finding the right location, with  Sennen Cove looking good. The holiday group will meet next on Tuesday 21st August, at 7.30 in the upstairs room at The Three Swans in Frome. Come along if you're interested, or e-mail if you're interested but can't make that evening (fwccsec@gmail.com).
